Gary is "Veteran of the Year"

Brianna and I decided to secretly nominate Gary to be recognized at Rose Springs Elemtery School for Veteran's Day. The school had decided that they want to recognize a different veteran from our community every year, so they had asked for nominations, and ours was chosen! Last week Principle Jones pulled Brianna out of class and gave her a very nice letter letting her know that her dad had been chosen to be recgnized for Veteran's Day. On Friday, the school held a special assembly. We just told Gary that Brianna was singing in the assembly and that parents were invited to attend. Since Gary doesn't work Fridays, this worked out very well. He had no idea. Here Brianna is waiting impatiently for the principle to announce her daddy.
Principle Jones called Brianna up and read the letter she had submitted to nominate Gary. That was when Gary finally realized what was really going on.
Gary received a very nice plaque and the school has another "perpetual" plaque that will hang in the school for the next 24 years, with Gary's name first on the list of what will someday be 24 veteran's recognized for their service. Gary had the opportunity to share a few things with the kids and thank Brianna, and threaten me.
The third grade sang "American Hero". The Fifth grade and the fourth grades also sang songs.
Here's Brianna singing her heart out. It was a very special event. I hope that we will all remember our veteran's this weekend. Those who are currently in dangers way, those who have served and are home, and especially those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Hooah!!

Gary's a Captain!

On Tuesday we got the Federal recognition for Gary to be a captain, so, on Wednesday, we had a "velcro" ceremony to make it all official. Mom and Dad were able to come up for the occasion. It was sure exciting to finally see Gary acheive this after four years of hard work.

Jenna, November 2007

These are just some random, cute pics of Jenna. She has learned to stand up against things, but not she hasn't figured out how to get back down so she's always getting herself stuck in odd places. I asure you, she is not peeing in the corner. She got herself up like this and couldn't get back down, so she was whining and crying until we finally helped her to sit back on her little bum.

Jenna fell asleep in her little crib while we were cleaning the garage. Gary thought it was cute, so here you are!

October 2007

Since I'm always so on top of getting this blog updated, here are a few random pics from October. Jenna got to help hold her new little cousin, Dallin. She wasn't sure that she liked it so much.
